Has anyone tried the Quantum Tour Edition PT?

Featured Replies

I was looking at buying this reel and it is on sale at cabelas for only 129.99 originally 239.99, so has anyone used it, and if you have, do you like it?

I have used the Energy PT, multicoloered for about a year. My fishing partner has the Tour and we bioth love them. Well worth the money but it is a heavy reel. Also discovered by comparing cross sections the the difference in the bearing count between the two appeared to be in the handle. All other parts seemed identical by P\N Quantum sold the 4 bearing handle so I beleive I turned my Energy into the Tour. Anyway great price. I am considering another.

I too am going to try to find one of these soon.  Not a whole lot of Quantum fans around here (not surprising really...5 years ago they weren't much) but I got to pleasure to mess around with Mike Wurm's Tour PT rods and reels at a recent seminar and they feel very well made.  Also, Mike Wurm seems to be one heck of a guy!

I wonder what Quantum is planning for this series?

Yeah I have one and I love it. I bought mine at the original price right before they went on sale.  :D The reel is worth the money at its original price IMO so it is definately worth the money at 129.99! A lot of people on this forum dislike Quantums but I love mine, and at 129.99 I don't think you can argue.

I have two of the Energies and absolutely LOVE them! My fishing partner has several of the Tours and feels the same way about them! He's let me try it out once, and WOW! I almost wish I hadn't bought my latest Energy back in the spring so I could have bought a Tour at the sale price! Great reel at an outstanding price! IMO

I love my three Energy PT's.  I have not had any problems with them.  I am having a hard time not buying a tour for $129.  I don't think there is a better deal on a reel right now.

The Tour Edition PT is the reason the last 11 reels I've bought have been Shimano.  I was extremely disappointed when I took it out.  The reel was the worst $100+ reel I have ever used.  After using a Chronarch on the rod I'd been using my TE on, I decided Quantum had some serious work to do before I'd ever buy another one of their reels.

I forgot to add that consistent with all my other Quantum reels I was very pleased with the drag.

I started out a few years ago with a switch to a Quantum Accurist then an Accurist PT and an Energy and an Energy PT and this year a Tour Edition PT. All very good reels all the PT reels are awesome especially the Tour. These reels are the reason my last 6 reels have NOT been Shimanos!!!!! :D

i fish daiwa reels for the most part ... but i got a tour in a trade ... i really like the reel ... its big but its smoth and great for casting and pitching ... i plan on putting my tour on a flipping stick ,... outstanding drag ... well worth the price now that they are on clearance  :D

I have the TE and really like it... I dont think you can beat it for the price right now.

The best reel? No...but very good!
