Fenwick Rod, broken tip - Out of warranty

Featured Replies

I've had an older Fenwick rod in my garage a few years that one of my friends gave me after he broke the tip off and was planning on throwing it away. I was wondering if I might be able to buy a new top piece for it (2 piece rod) or send it to Fenwick and pay to have it fixed. It seems like it was a pretty nice little rod.

I'm actually not even sure exactly what it is. Can anyone tell by the pictures or the serial number?

Thanks in advance for any info on this

Buy a new rod, it's not worth fixing.

What RW meant, was that it would be much more costly to repair or custom fit a top ferrule & build a top half than to just replace the rod. (at 5:19 am he was only on his second pot of coffee) ;D

As a rod builder and old outwrapper for Fenwick

Very cool! Well I guess that's almost straight from the horses mouth  ;D.

Just out of curiosity, can you tell the model and approximate year from the pics?

I've been a big St. Croix fan since I graduated from "WalMart" rods and that's all I've used since (Avid and Triumph). For the price, I'm tempted to just buy me a 2nd Triumph....decisions decisions  :-?

Thanks for all the replies!

I too have a older Fenwick (I think) w/broken tip but, I do have a model # PLP71 it also has what appears to be a eagle on it . There is no serial number or manufactures name? Believe it to be a Fenwick because after giving google the serial no. Fenwick popped up. The guides and windings match the PLP71. This has been a GREAT rod for many, many years!!    Am I also better off just buying a new one?
