Burner Reels?

Featured Replies

I just recently received a Quantum Tour Edition PT Burner edition reel as a gift. I've never used a reel with a gear ratio of 7:1, so i was just wondering what you guys like to use a reel like this for. I was thinking Spinnerbaits, is it good for those?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

You could use it for just about anything you wanted except for DEEP diving cranks, IMO.

I have a Curado 200DHSV (~7:1 gear ratio) on my worm/jig rod.

I have a Revo SC, i use it on my worm and jig rod

I love my Curado 7:0:1.

I use it for topwaters, crankbaits and spinnerbaits as you can slow it down and not tire out your hand and arm from reeling fast.

I am sure you will love your high speed reel.  :)

The Tour is a good, solid reel but heavy, you will get the BS  Shimano/Daiwa comparison but it is a well made reel that will last you forever. Compared to the old standard it is a higher speed at 28 ipt but not a match to the Revo or Zillion retrieve of today.

Anyway....enjoy it!!!!!!!

I've got three burners, and I use them for everything except deep cranking.

Also remember that Daiwa is coming out with a 7.3:1, fastest burner available.  :)

With 11 bearrings and a sweet paint job

Like everyone else said you can use it on anything but deep diving cranks. I really like mine for worm fishing because it takes up slack line really quick.
