Shad Shape Worm - GYCB

Just got a pack of cherry coke ones in.

Should I fish them like a fluke/jerkbait?

They were cheap so I decided to give them a whirl.

Picture doesn't do them justice. There definately a different kind of lure. Round body tophalf with a flat bottom. Going to have to play with this one to find out what works best.

The only limit on how a soft plastic bait should be rigged and fished is your own creativity.

Look like good jig trailers to me on those Rock Vader jigs I finally found.  Like Raul said, no limits. ;)

I have never fished them, but have heard that they are great on a dropshot rig.

I've read that as well. Going to give them a whirl on the wiggle rig to see how they work that way. It's always exciting to get a new bait that you have no clue how erratic it can be.  8-)

I use them on a drop shot and they work but they are not special.

I'm always excited by new offerings from Gary Yamamoto.

Looking at this bait, I can see how nose hooking it with an octopus hook on a drop shot would be great.

Also it looks like it would be a great fluke type bait.

The GYCB's typically have all that salt in em so they sink faster than a zoom fluke would.  But I would twitch it a few times and let it settle.

Does it have the senko wiggle on the way down?

Another thing that jumps out at me would be to hook it wacky style through the flat side of the bait.

Yup, like the man said.......the only limitation is your imagination.

Don't forget to let us know how you did with it.

People generally drop-shot them...but I'd be curious to twitch it and see what kind of action it has...maybe like a baby fluke.  I saw them at Cabelas...they were smaller than I thought.  They definitely look more like a drop-shot bait.

In the april 2007 flw outdoors mag, the feature article on jighead fishing (i think its more along the lines of finese jighead fishing), shinichi fukae uses that shad shaped worm on a 3/32 oz. finese jig.  i was gonna try a pack, but the zoom finese worms are too much fun.  tell me how those shad shaped worms work out.

Going to try and use them Saturday morning. With daylight savings time coming I'm not going to have too many days left to fish due to my work hours.

I've caught a few with them on a small jighead, fished shaky style.  Fishing them on a small jighead makes the bait appear like a small fish that is feeding on the bottom.

I tried them on a dropshot rig without success, but only tried it a couple times.  Around my parts the "fluke" style baits don't produce nearly as well on a dropshot as worms.

I bought several packs, and probably won't be buying any more. They're OK on a drop shot rig, which I don't use often. Too small to be a substitute for a fluke, and a dink magnet on a jighead. Like Munkin said, nothin special about these. I'm a GYCB fan, but these don't cut the mustard.

Cheers,

GK

Thanks for your thoughts. I may try them on a spinnerbait as a trailer too.

This is also a reason why I only buy one pack of a first time bait. If I don't like it them I'm not out of any serious money. If I love them than I will buy more.  ;)

I always have a drop shot rigged.

My go to bait is a zoom finesse worm, and I bought a lifetime supply (LOL)

so I don't think I'll be buying any more finesse baits anytime soon.

These do look great.

good luck.  and don't forget to give a review.

thanks.
