Is this a good rod and reel?

The reel yes (it's a shimano), don't know that much about that rod (whole lot of smack talk in the write up).

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

I have a heavy 7ft fish eagle II casting and 2 med hvy for trolling for walleye.  The trolling rods work great, very strong.   However the casting rod feels like a 2x4 (no sensitivity whatsoever).  They all feel like they are made of fiberglass, which means they will be tough as nails but you can't feel much on them.  Just my opinion.  For the price not a bad combo, you can always upgrade the rod later.  Awesome reel.

Yea i figured the reel was good but am still not sure on the rod. I don't have big bucks to spend on a SUPER nice one but would like to get my moneys worth still. Any other suggestions for rod? Or experience with this one?

For an "all-around" combination, my recommendation is 6 1/2' or 7'

Medium Power/ Fast Action.
