Repairing eye guide on Spinning rod.

Recommended Posts

So I have a new (3 months) old Carrot Stix.. I noticed today that one of the eye guides is broken (only one side). I'm having no problem with the rod casting and such but I would like to fix it.

Anyone know of an easy fix for this. (solder/replace) ect.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

David.

Return it or send it to mfg. for warranty repair.
Ahhhhh thats to bad..... ::)

Aaron is right on...Only one place to get that done E21, unless they have over the counter warranty in the US....Which I doubt.... 8-)

Lots of people seem to be asking this kind of question lately. (of many brands) Simply take it to your local rod repair guy or call the local shop and ask who is doing repairs locally. The replacement guide and labor will almost always cost less than the insured, return shipping if you warranty it.  And usually quicker to boot. Besides, if you fished it for 3 months, it's statistically unlikely that the "breakage" is actually a defect.

about a $15-$20 repair, in most cases.

Ask around at your local tackle shops.

In Richmond we have a guy who repairs rods and reels.

He has fixed two of my rods and charged only $5 for each.

Both work great.  :)

I wonder if using a local to do a guide replacement would nullify the warranty?

:-?

Good question.

The rods I damaged are old and out of warrenty so it made no difference.

But really good question.

Anyone have the answer?  :)

I have read more than one rod warranty were the MFG doesn't authorize anyone except the MFG to do any "repairs" to the rod without messing with the warranty..

Plus I don't know to many builders stocking double swaged PacBay guides, which is what is on the Carrots. They mostly stock Fuji..

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
