P line

Featured Replies

I have been looking at using Flouro on my spinning reel for a trip to Dale Hollow this fall.  I am currently using yo-zuri hybrid the purple color.  Should I get the p-line flouro or maybe trilene 100% flouro.  Which is more managable?

My vote would go to the Trilene 100%.

Bang to Buck ratio, I think its about the best there is.

Will it be too stiff for a spinning reel.  I don't want it to loop off the spool.

with kvd line and lure conditionor you won't have to worry about the line spooling off.  Also, I highly reccomend P-line 100% Fluorocarbon.

If you're happy with Yo-Zuri Hybrid, stick with it. For clear water (Dale Hollow) I would suggest original Hybrid #6 in green. Treat it with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and you will be fine. In clear water, green is virtually invisible.

If you're looking for a manageable line, I think P-Line flouroclear is about as manageable as it gets. It's not 100% flourocarbon, but it's really soft. I love how knots cinch down so smoothly with that line. You don't need to treat it with any conditioner, but I'm sure if you do, it'll be like butter  8-)

The downside is that it's a little stretchier than Trilene 100% and Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft.

P-Line 100% or XPS 100% FC are two reasonably priced FC lines.  I do not like Flouroclear.  It does not sink as fast as pure FC (since its a coated monofilament), and its the sink rate that I'm after.  It also breaks off a lot easier.

Trilene 100% is the only way to go.  Inviz-X is the only fluoro that is limper that I have tried, but sacrifice stretch and abrasion resistance.  For spinning...I recommend 8lb.

RW, all I have is the purple hybrid right now, and I've got 3 -1/4 spools of it so I don't want to buy any more yo-zuri at the moment.

I will be fishing around the dam and it is crystal clear there.  I thought the purple was supposed to be the least visible or is that just in stained water?

The purple smoke is fine in all water, but it really disappears in stained water. Green is a better match in clear water, but as I said, you will be fine with the line you already have.

Well ok I will stay with the hybrid.

I currently use the Pline and the Trilene floros, and I must say they are both exceptional lines..
