That's a great deal!

I have an AC66MF which I consider a great "all-around" rod for

treble hook lures. I prefer the 6 1/2' version for working topwater

and jerkbaits, but the 7' rod being offered is an excellent value.

RW, you must be taller than I, since I prefer a 6' for TW, LOL.  I'm a short guy though.  I wish their 70MHM were on sale.  I need a rod slightly heavier than my 70MM for really big lipped cranks.

Here's what you need and it's on sale, too: Lamiglas SR705R

You really like that rod  ;D

AC70MF      would this be a good all around rod?  I would be pairing it with a citica 200E and fishing mostly plastics with it.  I was going to probably pair the reel with a 6'6 Compre MH/F or XF.  But for only 10$ more this might be a steal on this rod.

I use that exact rod almost primarily for texas rigs. It fits the bill when I fish some topwater too.

hmm, does anyone know the difference between the code for sale: AC70MF  and under the normally priced avids it's AVC70MF?  Maybe I missed a detail or something but what is that V for?

The V is the newer avid models with IPC and ART I think, if it doesn't have the V in the model number it's last years model (still a great rod)

The AC70MF is a good "all-around" rod for treble hook lures, not jigs

or soft plastics. Although it is Fast Action, the tip is soft. Your want a

firm tip for fishing soft plastics.

The 6'6" MHF has a nice stiff tip for soft plastics if you can find that in sale

thanks guys.  How do you know whether the tip is soft or stiff?  Just by handling it?  Or is there anything in the specs?

Just by handling it I think, I didn't know the difference between a hard vs soft tips until I used both my MHF and MF.  Once you have used both you'll be able to tell.

Yeah, you have to handle various rods. "Fast Action" means the rod bends or loads in the upper 25-30% of the rod, but doesn't address whether the tip is soft or firm. As an example, my main soft plastics rod is also a St. Croix, Legend Elite ES70MF and it has a firm tip. By contrast, I have a G. Loomis PR844S rated Medium Power/ Fast Action. Well, it is a saltwater rod and should be rated MH in my opinion, but again the "Fast Action" is soft! Go figure...

I agree.  The Avid medium weight tapers are very soft at the tip.  I'm with you, a MH or H for plastics is a must.

If you have fished with the AC62MXF please let me know what you think the best use for it. I have fished with a AC68MXF and likd it for senkos and other weighless plastics.
