rod storage?

Featured Replies

Being as im done fishing for the year as deer hunting is about to start this week. Whats the best way to store your rods? Ive read that you are not suppose to store them horizontally, but is that really that much of a concern? The easiest place for me would be under my bed so just wondering if that would/could be bad for them?

get a 10 rod rack from berkley and put it on the wall.  just back off the drags and oil the reels and you will be fine.

As Lethal says, store the rods standing straight up, not leaning agains the wall or door, for the best storage.

You can make a simple rod holder by standing the rods on the floor and then having them stand against a dresser or desk, just as long as they are standing straight up and not allowing their tip to lean against the wall.

And you can go to your local hardware store and purchase some pipe insulation tubing; attach tubing to wall; and use it to hold the rods against it.  Only problem is attaching the tubing to the wall if family is against putting some nail holes in wall.

My rods never come out of the boat.  They are either in a horizontal rod rack in one locker or in rod sleves in the bottom of the other locker.  Some of them are 10 years old and I have seen on adverse effects from their method of storage.

I wouldn't be afraid to take the reels off and put the rods under the bed for the winter.

Here's mine. Cost very little to construct.
