Figured I'd have to share this with you guys

;D Just remember that not all of us are super rich Kevin Van Dam anglers capable of affording 500$ setups (I for one am a poor college kid). Anyway, Dicks Sporting Good's has a great deal going on right now, for I'd say a very nice entry level baitcasting combo. Abu Garcia Silvermax Reel (retail 70$) plus a 6'6" medium action Berkeley Lightning Rod http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?k=96463&sk=50172&u=LRCT (retail $30-40?) on clearance from a $100 to $60. Here is also a $10 off 50 coupon. http://dcsg.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eLP5EFgl3Wn7PTK&SVID=Prod

The kicker is theres also a $20 rebate on this setup, so after rebate your paying $30 plus tax. I know its not a Revo, but I figure 30$ for a baitcasting combo with Abu Garcia in the name couldn't be that bad of a deal! (esp cuz i've never used a baitcaster before, but wanted to get a heavier setup for throwing some of those swimbaits ive been seeing catching hawgs on this site :). Should be nationwide, and was working as of last night at 8:30. Now all i gotta worry about is the neighbors thinking im crazy for casting a hookless plug at imaginary pockets in the backyard in Nov in NJ lol.

Heres a link to the reel hopefully (remember its the silvermax, not the blackmax) http://www.abugarcia.com/prod.php?k=132585&sk=132584&p=PURBLACKMAX%20(1129926))

Demndjd22,

Great post!

It is nice having the guys tell each other about the good deals out there.

As for the setup that you saw and you have the opportunity to purchase..... go for it.

What is amazing is that the fish have no idea of brand names, rod lenghts, baits, line types, reels, graphite vs. glass, and who in the world is Kevin Van Dam.  The fish just want a nice meal, like going to McDonalds and pigging out.

After you buy the setup please go fishing and then post the pics of what you catch!  :)

Sam couldn't be more correct.

A 7-2 caught with this very combo and a baby brush hog.

After the $20 rebate, this is a great deal. No problems yet.

People should be allowed to know who the a**- holes are.

Thats a great deal, and I love a good bargin.

Enjoy your new combo.

I bought one of those Silvermax reels on a whim some time ago as it was on sale, picked it up for like $40 as a backup. There is a drop off from the Revos but.... Its a decent reel, especially at that price! Its nice and easy to adjust and is pretty comfortable to hold. Good find!

Gotta love censoship.

It's a lot better than filtering through the garbage that was cluttering up this thread before RW took the knife to it.

I didn't see this at my local dick's.  :)

Looks like you got a great deal!
