Close to the same.

Twitching bar goes on my list of " things that get on the way ", a reason I sold my Viento.

Flipping switch.....If you you do a lot of true flipping ( I don't ) I guess may have some use, I had it in 2 Accurists and I don't remember touching it much.

co-sign

imo twitchin is done with the tip of the rod and a flippin switch is just more parts to break in your reel.

I agree,it's not needed.

I have a reel that has the flipping switch and i never use the switch(it stays in the off position).

IMHO - twitchin bar is gimmick.  I can/do use a flipping switch tho.  Its not at all required, but once I started using it, things just seemed a bit more fluid.

The absence of a flipping switch would never sway my decision to buy a reel.

So you answered your own question and another. If you want to talk on the phone while fishing, go with a twitchin bar. ;D ::)

I've heard the Twitchin' Bar breaks easy?

Anyways, I have both the Megaforce, and i'm getting the Quantum Accurist PT (after demoing my friends), and i seem to like the Flippin' Switch better...

But honestly, they're both gimmicks  :)

But whatever.  we all have our personal tastes that we eachother should respect  :)  8-)

They're 2 completely different things. The flippin switch is nothing more than a way to re-engage the reel from free spool without turning the handle. Reel manufacturers handle that in a couple different ways.

The twitchin bar is a way to incrementally reel in slack line without turning the handles.

Exactly, two different animals, I don 't have a reel with twitching bar ( another thing that can break ), besides I don 't think a Viento is going to outcast my TDZs.  :)

Got reels with flipping switch, my old Abus have it, in the more than two decades I 've owned them I must have turned on the switch perhaps ....... 20 times.  :-? ( and I flip a lot ).

I do not not buy reels with flipping switches anymore. They are more of a problem then they are worth. I saw were Ardent reels is making a reel just for flippin and pitching with a special drag. I don't now much about it but i 'm sure you can loo it up..

Had a Viento the x-mas they first came out and used it for about a year sold it and bought the Diawia with the twenchin bar. I thought the Viento was alright but bar was a little small only reeling up very little slack at a time.  The Diawia reels twice as much slack. I think it is a great reel and plus the $50.00 for this one is better than $300.00 for the Viento, and I personally think it is a better reel.

Great drinking beer and fishin reel you can do both at the same time!! :) ::)

The reason is...is because Diawia opened a plant in china and thats where they make these reels thats why there so cheep there is also a pole they make over there that is a very good buy.
