shimano has a new rod "Voltaeus" out has a lifetime warrenty ..Anyone have one or gonna get one yet??? BTW shimano owns power pro now   8-)

Those rods aren't comparable to the Ugly Stick.  Different price point.  Retail for the Voltaeus will be $40-50

So true burley but if u can get a rod thats as strong and durable as a ugly stik only lighter and with a lifetime warrenty that price point dont matter ..20 extra bucks u aint gonna miss IMO

I haven't held them or anything, but it's pretty obvious they are challenging Ugly Stik for the consumers who want an "indestructible" rod.

My first combo for bass fishing was 20$  My wife's also.  And probably my son's when he is old enough lol  Now that I think about it, all my neighbors kids have 20$ combos also. That is 7 rods in that price range.

You got that right. The local tackle shop was my first job. $20 goes a loooong way in making the sale when you're talking about the entry level price point. Some of the people looked at me like I was insane. When people would complain about a $25 combo, I would mention that we had rods for $100, let alone $300+.
