I didn't know there was a mono other than crystal clear CXX! Seriously though, CXX's 'abrasion resistant coating' waterproofs the line, and the crystal clear also has the most clarity of any line I have used (even fluorocarbon). Fluorocarbon's advantage is refraction; not clarity. If I hose down my spool with reel magic after spooling with clear CXX...I can see the bottom of my spool. No joke.  Some anglers want the softest, most relaxed line on the market.  That is not CXX.  CXX is for angler that want the strongest, hardest, no-nosense line available.  It's the 'Jack Daniels' of fishing lines.....

Berkley Big Game 15# Mean Green :)

Also use 12# for general fishing.

I wouldn't recommend 20-25# test I would go with 10-12# for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. The thinner the line the smoother and longer the casts.

I would recommend trying BPD Excel Mono. I just bought a 4,000 yd spool for about $22.00 it was a great investment and it casts extremely smoothly :)

I find it very hard to ever spool less than 15lb Big game for spinnerbaits or buzzbaits (unless I am fishing a big spinnerbait deep).  I mostly use 20lb Big Game on my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, even in clear water.  20lb allows you to fish a buzzbait slower and around thicker cover.

Suffix Seige

I vote for any Suffix line!!!!!! :)

After using Trilene XL for years I have switched to Sufix Seige and believe it is the best line I have ever used. I recently bought a spool of Sufix braid that has become my favorite braid.

How is it compare to Elite? Haven't try the Seige but Elite and really like it.

Sufix Elite is analogous to Trilene XL, whereas Siege is their version of XT.  I used XL and XT for years, and switched to Sufix a few years ago.  I've always felt that love it or hate it, Trilene is the benchmark for all nylon monos.  I found Sufix to be marginally better.  I have since switched to P-Line CXX for most of my "mono" type applications, but still use Sufix for trout fishing in the winter.  It comes in ridiculously bright colors, which aids in that style of fishing.

I would say that you can be confident in spooling up with either.  Elite is the softer of the two, whereas Siege is their tougher, abrasion resistant line.  Siege has a tad more memory than Elite, but if you use a line conditioner, this is a non issue.

If you want to step up to really tough line, use P-Line CXX.

Yes, but 12# CXX has the strength of 25# Sufix :)

Really, .002" is undetectable, but yeah, it works for that.   8-)
