It never chewed up mine. I fished braid for about 5 years.

I think the Pro Finesse has SiC guides.  If braid won't erode ordinary aluminum oxide guides, it sure won't erode SiC guides.  

Clean braid will not and cannot harm quality guides, its Gel Spun Polypropylene (a thermoplastic polymer). Braids used in muddy water a lot will get the small particles of sediment embedded (usually silica) and that will wear into rod guides over time.

Been wondering this too. I've put lots of money into my tiny little Loomis collection. Last thing I want is to damage anything. Same goes for the spool on my spinning reel.

It depends.  Are you fishing with braid in saltwater?  I would not use braid with ceramic guides when fishing for kingfish, wahoo or other reel burning fish.  The amount of friction caused between the guides and line will heat up and cause damage to the guides when these fish make long, hard, fast runs.

I use braid for snook and tarpon on a Hurricane Redone rods with Fuji Concept Guides..........never a problem.  The only problem I ever had was a cracked ceramic tip on a Penn Pursuit rod that severed my braid.  Once I put a quality tip on the problem never occured again.

I use braid as well on my bass rods and the only problem was the quality of the line, didn't care for fireline.

x2 I believe SiC is a step up from Alconite. Part of why the Pro Finesse is a great value.

Bassin Blvd, there is a saltwater show on the Versus network now with them catching sword fish. The recommendation by the show personnel recommends using braid because of its small diameter and being able to put a large quantity on the big reels for those hard fighing fish. The rod being used does not have roller guides. It took 1 1/2 hours to get the fish in from the depth of 2,000'.

Braid doesn't chew up my eyes but its been doing a number on my teeth. LOL
