Hey y'all, I'm new here and I have a question.  I'm setting up a rod for jig fishing, and I'm trying to decide on the best line to use.  I don't like braid, BTW.  I bought a roll of P-Line Evolution.  Has anyone used this?  How is the stretch, strength,and abrasion resistanc.  Thanks

I tried this along with my fishing partner last year. We bought it at different locations so I am sure the lots were different along with test. Both had problems breaking at hook set. I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer and recieved no response. Evolution is not as good as CXX.

If it's strength your looking for, then go with cxx

P-line Flouroclear is also a very good line as well, or at least in my experiences. Its a very limp line with a smaller diameter when compared with mono of the same lbs test. I use it to fish light worms and jigs in 12 lb test.

I haven't noticed any more or less abrasion resistance then trilene 100% flourocarbon, but sometimes it gets stretched in odd spots that would only come off the spool on my lengthier casts. One thing I can say though that it is pretty dang strong. Last tournament when I got a shakey head hung up my boater commented how strong my line was when I couldn't get my shakey head to break off.

the CXX is really strong stuff.i watched my cousin reel in a 25lb carp on 12lb pline CXX. he wrestled that thing (not lightly) for a good 5-10 mins and brought it to the boat. i was shocked it didnt break bc again, he didnt go light on him. it was tug o war and he won thanks to pline

10lb has straightened out some jig hooks for me and I had a friend snap a heavy duty jig hook with the 17 lb

I've been using 20# p-line fluroclear drifting for kingfish, the line doesn't break.  Most kings run 8-15# and bigger ones are caught as many other species 50#+.  I think the important fact is not the line, but how you play the fish. I see so many people tighten that drag way too much, that's when the line breaks.

What I look for in a line is how it goes onto the spool, I have seen so many times line "coiling off", especially on spin gear over 15#test.

Easy remedy for this, saltwater guys for eons have been soaking their line in water before spooling up, hot tap water even works better.  After every outing I run the line behind the boat with nothing on it to relax it again for the next trip.
