Can You Use Lipless Cranks With This?

Featured Replies

Ok fella's I just got back from the local tackle shop and I bought the 7'4" Quantum Tour KVD Crankin' Rod.  The reel on it is a Pfluger Trion in a 5.2:1 gear ratio.

Do you think I could use 1/2 oz. or bigger lipless crankbaits on this rod, or is it just for lipped crankbaits?

I don't own any of the Quantum Tour Crankin' rods but I would say that it can probably handle 1/2 lipless cranks, however I personally wouldn't use them on it. A crankbait rod has a slow action, when fishing lipless cranks, you need to be able to rip them out of grass and whatnot. I personally prefer a faster action rod for that application. Some guys may disagree but I like my lipless crank rods to have a faster tip.

Yes.

You can, but I think that reel is a little slow for a lipless, I like 7:1 when using lipless CB's and sometimes thats not fast enough. :D

i use mu curado e5 and it works great.
