So I have a couple of the Revo S, and was thinking about getting another one. My question is do you guys think it is worth the money difference to buy a Revo SX?

I do not think it is worth it. I actually prefer the S to the SX, but that could be that I favor the centrifugal braking system. From my experience, these two reels handle completely different. If you like the S then I don't think you could go wrong with another.

*If you wanted to try a different reel then I would go with a Citica or Curado. Same braking system as the S.

x2 on a curado if you like the revo s youll like the shimano also,but i LOVE my sx its alot smoother imo then the s and casts further for me and its easier with light lures.for me its worth the upgrade.

I don't know about shimano baitcasters, but their spinning reels rock. I have two SX's, one STX, and one S. I tried a couple of comparable brands, but am partial to the Revo's. IMO the SX casts a bit farther, and the STX is buttery smooth and the drag can pull ou monsters, but the S seems to haandle most applications just fine and dandy.

There is no practical performance difference between the S and SX and STX.  However, if you really try, you might be able to squeeze a wee bit more distance out of the SX, and a wee bit further with the STX.  Otherwise, on the water, its all about the same.  Just comes down to they type of braking system you like, color bearings numbers, etc.

I have an SX along with 4 4600C3 and 4 5500C3. I use the SX for lighter lures. If find the SX to be very smooth with a very good drag. It backlashes only when I hit the boat/motor/water casting, or when I do something stupid. It does take a while to adjust.  Two different adjustments. When I first used it, I had a problem going from the SX to 4600 and back again. That was resolved after a couple of trips.

I just recently got a Revo S and have fished with an SX and I would stick with the S.  The extra $$$ isn't worth the hassle of the mag brake on the SX.  IMO it's too finicky, maybe I didn't give it a far chance but I'm partial to 6-pin braking to begin with so maybe that has something to do with it.

Nope.  And I would recommend you get a Shimano Curado or Citica for some variety.  Gives you a feel for the different higher end gear.  Personally I think the S is the gem in the Revo line.

the disengaging spool design on the STX, Premier (Elite) and Skeet versions of the Revo make a reel that is superior to the S or SX version.  If you prefer the centrifugal brake and you're not a weight weinie or aren't Rockfeller, the S is fine.

The for about $30.00 more, go for the STX.  You will have a superior reel.

Tackle Tour reviewed both the STX and SX.  The SX didn't fare so well.

if Abu made the S in a 7.anything they would take a huge bite out of the Curado sales.

Stick with the S reel.  I owned all three at one time.  Of the three, the SX was the one I least liked.  That reel had 1 sweet spot on the settings and if you missed it it was backlash city.  

i got both and i like both but seems like i just like the S a little bit better.

For me, it is definitely worth it! It is a lot smoother and casts a lot farther as well! But my all time favorite is the STX.

It's probably wouldn't be hard to do a gear upgrade yourself.  The gears are probably standard.  Call PureFishing and order the main drive gear and the pinion gear.  It might take you 10 minutes.

I have tried all of them, even the skeet, and the winch. I still go back to the SX.

Think about what aspect of the Revo S you are trying to improve upon.  If you like the breaking system and are satisfied with the performance, then why spend the extra $$.  

On the other hand, if you feel a need to upgrade why limit yourself to just Revo's?  There's a lot of great reels out there.  For instance, I've gotten used to a centrifugal breaking system so I'm not anxious to switch to magnetic breaks.  However, I've gotten much better casting distance from centrifugal reels from 2 other manufacturers.  Admittedly, their retail was twice as high
