looking for an opinion on reels

Featured Replies

so i am new here and im looking for some help, i have a abu garcia 802 cardinal reel that i bought for $119.99 last summer, its a great reel but last weekend i was out caught about four smaller bass and the bail decided to snap, or well because of a goofy design came apart (looks like its a two piece which is odd imo) anyways should i pay the fifty to get it fixed(im out of warranty) and by the way this is a goofy set up it seems who ever designed it decided they would make the inner workings complicated as all hell, or should i scrap it and get something else and if i should what should i get? price range anywhere from $100-$200

thanks

are you going to stay with spinning gear? if so in that price range id look into shimano stradic or saros are both excellet reels, strong and smooth as butter,i also like the team daiwa tierra and sol imo all those reels in that price are killer

like mentioned above, id look at shimano saros and stradic or daiwa tierra. never tried the sol.....

Anything Shimano.   :o

Spinning: Shimano Stradic 2500FI

Baitcasting: Shimano Curado 200 E7

Both reels can be bought at a significant discount

to MSRP if you are patient and shop around. I bought

a Curado from our Flea Market a couple of weeks ago

for $150. five.bass.limit has a deal right now on the

Stradic 2500MG for $100 off list price.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Spinningl; President X6735   60 bucks

Bautcasting: Trion WLP         100 Bucks

I use both, made by Pflueger: they are excellent products and do not break down, under daily use,

I would contact Reel Mechanic here and see what he thinks it will be to fix it.

However for $50 you can get a Shimano Sedona which is a smooth workhorse of a spinning reel.

If you want to go the Shimano route, guy on the Flea Market has a Stradic on sale for 85 bucks.
