So my Revo SX, which is my very first high end reel, is about a month old and has maybe seen the water twice, has run into problems. the gears in the handle are not spinning the spool and the push button is stuck down. I need to know how to take it apart. Ive take the two screws out and the handle and such but it wont budge. I don't want to start prying and break anything so I want to do it right. Was needing this reel for a tourney on Saturday. Any help?

Did you drop it ot take it apart previously? Because if anything becomes loose inside then that will cause problems. There is a medal sleeve that sits inside most reel on the gear shaft that has two rectangular prongs that slip into the gears. If that comes out or was not put in properly, it will throw stuff out of whack. The nice thing about reels is they rarely break becasue everypart is replacable. There also might be screws inside the reel behind the spool that need to be taken out. Some reels have side plat screws there.

If you're having a tough time taking the side-plates off you might want to reconsider doing it.  You could easily end up losing a part or possibly even doing more damage.

Don't start prying, or you'll break something.

Take the brakeside sideplate off first. Remove the spool. Take the handle and drag star off, and KEEP THE WASHERS THAT COME OFF IN ORDER.

Once this is done, you can take the crankside sideplate off. There are two screws on the outside, and one on the inside of the frame. If you don't remove this, the sideplate won't come off.

Look at picture # 17 in this series. In fact, study these series of photos before taking you reel apart. Keep those washers that come off the shaft in order.

If you have never taken one down and analyzed the issues then don't start now.

But if you must break into the reel make sure you have the schematic for the reel in front of you.

Then to open the reel:

1. Remove the spool, by loosening the thumbscrew above the drag star, and turn the palming plate down and remove the plate and spool.

2. Carefully remove the 2 screws you see next to the pinion gear (don't lose them)

3. Now remove the crank assembly all the way down to and including the drag star and drag spring washers.

4. Remove the 2 outside screws and lift the crank side plate carefully so that you don't lose any parts that might be lose under that side plate.

Now you have access to the whole cranking assembly, hope you know what your looking for. Also hope you can remember how it all goes back together when your done rooting around in the reel. When all else fails put it back together and send it off to Pure Fishing for warranty work (which in mpo you should have done in the first place)
