Reel Care

Featured Replies

I can here one of my spinning reels sounds like it needs to be oiled. What type of oil should I be using?

Get the oil recommended by the manufacturer. However, there is a good

chance your reel may need cleaning if it is making noise. If it has not been

serviced in the last two years, it's time!

A tip I received from an authorized Shimano repair center (also authorized for other brands as well) is use Corosion X or Corosion Block, and yeh it's the best, I wouldn't use anything else now. BTW PB blaster will "eat" your bearings..........Professionally serviced once a year is mandatory for me.

What reel is it. Use the oil that came with the reel.

If none came with it use a quality reel oil (instead of the 40wt. out of the car trunk) ;)

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
