I am looking at a St Croix Avid to match up with a Shimano Curado.  It will be used for general bass fishing throwing worms, frogs and spinner baits.  Just can't decide whether to go with the medium action or medium heavy.  It will be in 7' length.  Most bass will be in the 2# class but in some of the ponds 4-7# are common.  

St. Croix "Medium Power" is comparable to other companies MH.

I would recommend M for an all-around rod.

Agree with the M.  The M is very light and very fast.

The MH is noticeably heavier and quite stiff; overkill for what you will be catching the majority of the time (assuming you aren't throwing 1/2 oz and up sized baits).

I own an Avid AVC70MHF, its a beast.  Throws 1/2+ oz. jigs, frogs, big t-rig creatures and worms, big spinnerbaits, small solid swimbaits, etc. with ease.  Love the rod, but its not an all "arounder", like my LTBC70MF.  Get the M and later when you are ready for a heavy cover/bait rod go for the MH.  

my concern would be frog fishing with a M. When I throw frogs it's usually over grass or some sort of slop. The backbone of the MH is perfect for that application. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. With that being said I have never felt the MH was to heavy for weightless plastics either. Just my opinion.

Picked up the Avid in Med yesterday.  Cast very well.  Now I need to check the power this weekend.
