KVD line and lure on braided line

Featured Replies

Are any of you using this on braid? Its really helped me to get the  mono and flouro to behave itself on my spinning rigs, but I've never thought about it with braid.....just doesnt seem like it would make any diffrence???

I use it on Power Pro.  It preserves the color longer, and casts a little smoother.  Nothing as dramatic as what it does to fluoro, mono, and copoly.

I use KVD on all my lines.  Like J said, it's not as dramatic on braid as on flouro, mono, etc., but it defintely helps.

J Francho-  well if it helps PP keep its color I'm sold...I love that line and the white coloring has been my only gripe!

You want to do something cool to you Power Pro?  before hitting it with KVD, take a black Sharpie, and color 1/2 the spool.  Now you have camo line ;)

Haha yeah Ive been doing that with the spike it markers over the last 4' of line or so on the PP. It helps camo it and I figure if the fish smells my worm it before it sees it it cant hurt!

This is new to me... what is the purpose of that?

alternating black and green breaks up the solid line.

I have always wondered what the point of camo line was.  That makes total sense.  Thanks!

What's the best way to do this?

take a sharpie(one with the wide fat tip) get a razor and cut a slit down the middle of the tip of the marker then just run your line through the slit...waalaa...camo line,it also works good for the bright lines for sight fishing to tone down that super bright yellow or pink.and NO the smell of the marker wont matter.it wears off after a few casts.

Neat idea I'm going to have to give that a shot.  What's the best pattern 6" sharpy 6" line or  what?

You guys are making it way too complicated.  Just color one half of the spool on your reel with black marker.  That's it.  Lasts for a few trips, and then you have to do it again.

imo half a spool doesnt constitute as camo, you just have a half black half green spool, imo camo is a pattern/mix of color alternating i.e green black green black etc.,not half.just my .02,not to mention if you arnt casting far then your only going to get half of the color out in the water, either the green or black side depending on what half you colored.

LOL, I must not be getting through here.  What do you think happens when you color one half of the line on your reel black?  Try it, and you'll see its exactly your definition of camo.  Reel all your line in.  Take a marker, and color one half of your spool, while its on the reel.  That simple guys!

I use moss green already, and still do the marker thing. After a while, the color wears off.  See above, the KVD L&L slows this process. :;)

my mistake ..brainfart...after thinking about it i forgot that the line gets spooled up over the spoolleft to right and so on,so yea the pattern woulld come out as camo (black green black green) but it will just look 1/2 n 1/2 on the spool.my mistake dude lol. ;D

LOL, no sweat.  I was banging my head against the wall trying to explain it.  ;D

truthfully. i havent been able to get kvd line and lure to do anything but mess up my line and give me memory. i use yozuri hybrid and while i love it it is a bit expensive and got the line and lure cuz of the advice on this site. trying to stretch the budget you know. but after repeated use on different reels and #line.... i havent had a single positive result.  i must be doing it wrong. lol.

on the other hand.... it is awesome to use on lures to keep off corrosion and rust. have a box full of saltwater topwaters and was constanly having to change hooks.... now i just spray them down every few weeks....perfect.

The kvd works fine on mono and fluorocarbon, don't  use it on power pro.

Never tried the KVD line conditioner, have been tempted several times but to many mixed reviews.  I may give it a shot sometime if a store opens up a bottle for testing or something.

I bought a bottle but haven't seen a reason to use it.  Soaking in hot water does the trick for me each and every time and it's free.
