Legend Elite

Featured Replies

Anyone here have any esperience fishing with the St. Croix Legend Elite series rods? The reviews at Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops are all very good. I was wondering how your experiences have been with them and how they compare to the higher end Loomis rods like the IMX and GLX series, as they are at a similar price range.

the le is a solid, well-crafted series of rods.

i still prefer the glx for tip-up...otherwise, it's a toss-up between the imx and the le.

ymmv.

In that case it sounds like the IMX is the better value then, since it is about $30 cheaper for comparable rods.

I have a 6'9" spinning that I use for drop shotting and shakey head.  It feels wonderful and has top notch components.  Having said that, I bought a 2008 model used at the end of 2008 for $75.00.  Is it worth $75....HECK Yeah!  Is it worth $330.00....heck no.

wow $75, I would've got a few of them.

I love the LE spinning rods, but do not have any casting rods because of the ACS reel seat. I think it is a bit overpriced off the shelf though. I think I saw somewhere that custom rod builders can build on the LE blank for cheaper than St. Croix sells it. I like the rod a lot, but I do not have any other high end spinning rods to compare it to. It seems everyone says the sensitivity is similar to the IMX.

I have two:

ES70MF is my main rod for weightless soft platics.

EC70MHF is my rod for Mattlures Baby Bass and 3/4 oz

Ledgebuster spinnerbaits.

The components are top notch; along with craftmanship

and engineering. The rods are (almost) perfectly balanced

when matched up the appropriate reel. I think the Legend

Elite is comparable to G. Loomis IMX and are sometimes on

sale.
