I'm like the M.Falcon - buying lures for 35 years, i GUESS that i don't need any new ones. After reading RW brag on those fat ikas -  i'll try them this year. BPS had some palm trees so i picked up a pack. (should've got more). I got into repainting last winter, but i didn't fish with them much last year, so maybe i'll fish those more this year. I need to improve my jig fishing.

Well for the spring I will try something new. Haven't thrown lizards in a long time so I will start off with that when the snow melts. Than definately go back to my child hood success with the Rattle Traps.

Ikas rock. Became my new favorite bait. If you fish ponds.....you just can't go wrong with them. Brought out some nice fish for me this fall and late summer.

Already bought a bunch of those special "shakey head" jigs and some floating worms to try this presentation. I think it will be more effective on a more open bottom though. Would seem to be hard to work through weeds or moss? Also would like to give the swimbait a whirl for big smallies in open water.

I'm going to try ultra light baits until the weather warms up some.  After that I'll use the same stuff.

This year I plan on fishing Swimbaits more (yeah I hear the baitmonkey calling the credit card info in right now) and I also want to work on transitioning from a "get as many bites as I can" mentality to the five bite mentality.  I also want to hone my understanding of my electronics and concentrate more on fishing stuff that is not visable.

For the most part though, I will be buying some swimbaits to try this spring.

1) More confidence in the drop shot rig

2) Step up my swimbait fishing

3) Catch JUST ONE FISH on a spinnerbait.  I absolutely cannot catch anything with these stupid things!!

4) Deep cranking

Since plastics are still new to me, I plan to fish only plastics and jigs. I think their versatility is amazing and want to learn as much as possible. I am going give pitching and flipping a try also. Only thing is I may need to purchase a flipping stick.

Agreed. Only caught one this year on a spinnerbait. After that I bought six more ha ha ha. But seriously I use to catch loads when I was a kid with them. Now its like I'm thinking too much or something.

Well during tournaments I probably wont throw anything new. Ill throw what I know and what I have the most confidence in. But on my off time ill be trying all kinds new stuff. Im really looking forward to trying Mann's 10" snakes in the weedy muck they look pretty cool. And im gonna invest into some large swim baits iv never tried them but looking forward to adding them to my collection. Im just counting the day's until I can de-winterise my boat. The unseasonably warm weather here in Upstate New York is just a big tease, it feels so much like fishing season is right around the corner. BUT I know that we will get hammered again and be in a big freeze so ill just continue to be depressed every time I walk past my boat in my garage. *sniffel*

#3 is a big thing for me too. I caught 1 5lb striper last month on a spinnerbait, and that was my first fish over 8inches on a spinnerbait. So now that's going to be a key thing I throw for some time!
