What line do you use for drop shot and misc.?

Recommended Posts

Currently Im using Yo-Zuri Hybrid 8lb. it suits me fine. I was just curious what everyone else uses and what type of line(mono, fluoro, copolymer) and weight.

My setup is: Shimano Voltaeus Spinning 6'6" Medium Fast

                 Quantum Incyte 20

I use this setup for all my spinning rod tactics, cuz its my only spinning rod. Just want to ask about everyone elses multi purpose line.

Thanks!

On my Damiki Dark Angel/Stradic CI4 I have 8lb P-Line Flouro-clear, 10lb Yo-zuri on my Energy spinning reel, used on my Damiki for bank fishing, and 12lb Flouro-clear on my Daiwa Zillion/Alpha 103

Man.... this is my most versatile setup in my arsenal...

A Quantum Energy PTi20 strapped to a St.Croix AVS66MF.

As for Line I use Power Pro 20lb with 8' leader of Yo-Zuri 8lb... :P

For usual Drop Shot:

6# Seaguar Invizx

I use a number of other lines for other things and usually prefer to use the lightest I can get away with.

Other Lines I like to use:

12# Yozuri Hybrid (I do want to try ultra soft, but the don't sell it locally)

10# Sufix Siege (best mono at resisting memory)

6# Trilene for UL fishing

30# Power Pro

For standard, light line dropshotting, I use Sufix Braid in 10lb test, with a 4-8 ft leader of Sunline FC Sniper Flouro in 6-10lb test.

7lb Sunline Sniper Fluorocarbon for dropshot/shakey head. 10lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid for my all-purpose line on baitcasting gear. 12-15lb P-Line CXX for heavy cover.

Yo zuri 8# is a pretty solid all around line, IMO. Of course for heavy weeds you'll need more. On my "drop shot" I have 12# flouro. But I never drop shot.

I use 30 lb. Braid (insert your favorite brand here) with usually an 8 foot 10 lb. Flouro. Leader. My drop shot success rate has doubled since moving to braid. It seems to add so much more sensitivity to the whole set-up. The weight at the end of the line varies. I use as light of weight as possible and still have good contact with the bottom (which could be up to an ounce is the wind is really blowing).

As for other lines used on spinning set-ups, I use 8 lb. Flouro. for shakyhead, 10 lb. Flouro. for senkos and flukes, and usually 30 lb. Braid with a leader for other spinning gear applications (like dragging tubes, or skipping lures under docks).

15 # Power Pro with fluoro leader, Med-Light action rod 2000 size reel (pick your brands). My rod and reel are Daiwa.
