Curado dilemma

Featured Replies

Alright, I messed up. About a month ago I was fishing at a huntclub and while driving the ATV to another pond my Shimano curado E7 and its rod fell off the ATV and I have no idea how, but the handle got bent so that one of the knobs is at a weird angle. Ayways, when cranking it feels really weird to the point that I can't hold that knob, but there are two so other than that the reel works fine. I am basically considering three options: Just use the reel less and leave it as is and retrieve with only the one knob (I have to switch knobs after casting usually because of this); or replace the handle and spend money on a reel I don't like that much; or I could sell it, somehow  :-/. What would you guys do?

Why fish with anything you don't like?

Sell the reel.

If you don't like it sell it and don't forget to offer it as damaged goods.

Yep, that's what I am thinking I just don't know what to sell a damaged reel for.

Its fine other than the shaft of one grip?   Why not get a replacement handle?   If the price from Shimano is too high you could check on those fancy carbon JDM handle upgrades or a generic Hawg Handle from BPS.

I haven't looked into handle price, but I certainly wouldn't want to downgrade, and knowing Shimano it will probably cost 40 bucks or something.

You could put a wanted add in the classified for a handle from where someone else upgraded.  Also check the Bay for a handle too.

I bent the handle near one of the knobs on my E7 too. I was able to bend it back and it works fine now. I asked Bantam what the price for the handle assembly would be and if I remember correctly I think he said it was around $50

a new handle is a lot cheaper than a new reel. just bite the bullet and get a new handle. soon you will forget it ever happened

That or if you have a D series Curado, I'll swap you my E7 for it.  I dont like the E series one bit.

The Curado handle is $50-60.

I think I'm gonna sell it because I don't like the reel enough to justify dishing out another 50-60 dollars. I could get a lifetime supply of trick sticks with that money.  ;D

Do you just need the handle? Or do you need the knobs as well? I have a handle off a Chronarch 51Mg that I would sell ya. I just want to make sure this is all you need. You could probably swap the grips and bearing out of your Curado and put them on it. I do know it is slightly shorter than the Curado handle, but not by much. Let me know.
