help with a decent spinnerbait setup

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I'm looking to get a new rod to pair up with my revo SX for an all around spinnerbait setup. I've been flippin mostly, so trying to extend my trade skill.

I guess I'll be throwing in areas where i'd use mostly 3/4 oz.

Can you recommend a rod or rod stats? looking around 100-200.

thanks,

I like throwing spinnerbaits alot and I have a KVD signature series quantum rod 6-6 MH spinnerbait specific rod and couldnt be happier with the feel and action

id go 6'6" to 7', medium heavy or heavy, fast action.

6'6" for accuracy, 7' for longer casts.

bigfruits is right with the lengths but with the 6-10 you sort of meet in the middle with the accuracy and the casting length ability should have opted for the 6-10 myself

I fish both of the rods below. One's 6'6" the other is 6'10".

The shorter rod is great for throwing at targets a bit closer and the longer stick will get you a little extra distance. These rods are very attractively priced right now.

I don't know how you feel matching your sx with a Quantum rod ~ is that allowed ?

;)

Thanks guys.

I think theres a law against matching Revo's with quantums, but I'm a lawbreaker.

Can you guys compare this rod to a St croix Mojo and a Loomis IMX? I have the two, and would like to at least get an idea of what im buying if i go with the quantum Tour PT.

Thanks again

I know its against the rules but It can only make that ABU better

just kidding yes I have fished with the Mojo alot of similarities but overall had to stick with Quantum loved the speed and the feel when paired with a burner reel, but its all in what you like is what matters

Sorry I can not help you with a comparison regarding the Mojo or the Gloomis.  I'm sure others can and will.

My favorite spinnetbait rod is the Crucial CRCX70H.  It has the ability to put a tremendous amount of force into a hookset at long range, it is sensitive enough to fish ligh spinnerbaits, and it can really rip a biat when I'm working grass or slop.

It's one of the more accurate 7' rods that I've fished, as well.  You sacrifice a little accuracy with it, because it doesn't load as easily as..say an IMX..in roughly the same class.

One of my partners fishes a SBR812C and loves the heck out the rod.  @ $215 it's a pretty darned good value IMO.  I'd like to own one, but I really can't justify it.

Look into the All-Star Platnium.  Their original retail price is 150.00 and they are selling on TW for 68.00 now.

I would go with a 6'6" or 7' M to MH

Instead of the mojo I highly recommend the e21 carrot stix "crankin" stix 7ft 2in Medium Moderate. It behaves like a medium heavy and is quite sensitive and extremely versatile. It can handle spinnerbaits and crankbaits quite well. Even the heavier ones.
