I want to tie fluro line to braid. I need some suggestions on what knots I should try, which one is the easiest to learn and which one is the strongest. Also If I've got say power pro braid, does thediameter of one need to be matched to a certain fluro diameter?

i want to say the knot is uni to uni but im not sure.

Uni-to-uni is a good one. Try doubling up the end of the braid to increase the diameter a bit and give a stronger connection. 5-7 twists should be plenty on either side.

Everybody talks about the "Alberto knot" or modified Albright but I haven't tried it.

IMO, the only thing good about the North American fisherman show, Knot Wars. This season they're doing leader to braid knots. I believe they have several knot illustrations on their site now.

On my swimbait rig I use 55 lb braid, and have tied 12 and 15 lb fluro to it for a leader..I have always used the uni to uni knot..6 twists on the braid side, 8 twists on the fluro, or mono side..my line has snapped but never had a knot fail..Make sure to mosten the knots..

The Double Uni is what I use for leaders and reel backing. It's easy to learn and to tie, but it's not as small and streamlined as some others like so it doesn't pass thru the guides as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been working on tying the 2 lines w/uni knot...gonna have to keep practicing. How many of you put a drop of glue on the knot? Do you think it would help strengthen the knot or is it something that's not needed?

You can use glue if it makes you feel better, I don't.

From another thread - -I picked up assorted spools of Yozuri hybrid this off season to use on the front end as a leader for braid. I have been using a uni to uni knot connection for this for years. I had tried the Alberto's Knot against the uni but the uni knot always won. But I have a feeling the inferior florocarbon line I was using then was more the cause than the knot.

Today, I had my own version of Knot Wars - uni against the Alberto's Knot

The Alberto's Knot won hands down - the uni to uni knot broke EVERY TIME ! I was shocked. I've been a big fan of the uni and now I'll never tie another. So I've got about a month before the season starts to become proficient at the Alberto's Knot to where I can tie it in my sleep.

I believe I could practice the double uni from now on, and never be very good at it. The modified albright is much easier to tie (for me anyway), and works very well.

Best knot is all relative, I will say try these and tie the one your most comfortable with.

1. Uni to Uni (Bass fishing)

2. No Name to Bimini (Tarpon, Snook, and other heavy  hitters)

I haven't tried the Alberto, but honestly haven't had problems with a well tied uni to uni and when I go after salty fish I haven't had issues with the no name.  Get proficient at one and stick to it.

i have never had a problem with the uni-to-uni knot(for joining two lines) , that's all i use . that said , i have never had problems with knots , any knots . it seems to me that if you tie the knot proper and snug it down and it has been pre moistened , you won't have any knot failures . i use a improved clinch knot on braid(power Pro) , even brand new line and have never had a knot failure !!! so what i'm saying is , take your time and tie a good knot and you will be alright

I'm with you on the uni to uni. I've never had a problem with it either. In fact I am very good at tying it quickly and correctly which is good because I re-tie them often through of the day - just makes me feel better. But all knots have a breaking point and although I have not had a problem with the uni knot parting unexpectedly, after my own little testing evolution, I think the Alberto knot retains a load a bit closer to the original line strength. In fact, when I connected a length of braid to Yozuri Hybrid at both ends with an Alberto knots, the fluorocarbon and nylon hybrid line parted in the middle and not at either Alberto knot 8 out of 10 times.
