I quit using the palomar for my fluro. broke it off in the knot one time too many. i went to the improved cinch and have had no problems since.

Palomar for the braid.

On the braid I use a Double Surgeon's Knot to form a loop. Then I tie a loop into the end of the flourocarbon line, and interlock the two loops by running the tag end of the flouro through the braid loop 8 times and then tighten. It makes a Cats Paw Splice which is small diameter, flows through the guides, and does not break.

i use the improved clinch for both , never had any problems :)

for tying braid to a leader of flouro , i use the uni-to-uni knot ....

Wow, apparently I've been tying the jam knot for years and didn't even know it.  It works great for mono, fluoro, and even braid in my experience.  However I don't always put the slack end through the top loop; only if I feel it might slip out otherwise (not enough twists).

I have tested this vs the palomar knot several times by tying 8 lb test mono to 2 eye rings screwed into pieces of wood.  When I pulled the mono tight enough for it to break, the palomar was the knot that broke first every time.  I do know how to properly and evenly tighten the palomar also, but this is just my experience with those knots.

for splices I use uni to uni. Lures I use the Fish-n-fool! It won the knot wars on NAFC. Tested it with mono, fluoro and braid. Indeed stronger than improved clinch, san diego jam, trilene knot and palomar. Look it up, you will be glad you did. 8-)
