My Revo S reel has been given me some problems.  The line guide stays to the left side of the reel when fishing.  The reel handle also stays stuck and make a noise like if the gears are skipping.    I took it completely apart and gave it a good cleaning.  It worked fine for a couple of trips.  Then it started again.  Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?  I was thinking of buying a new pawl and worm shaft.  Could that solve the problem.  Or maybe I should just send it back to ABU Garcia.

sounds like a classic level wind paw to me.

If it's under warranty, send it back to ABU. If not, I'd be happy to check it out for you.

i have to agree the line going to one side will point to the levilwind/pawl.  might get away with just replacing the pawl.  and the handle sticking like that. hmmm the advice i can give is if you dont see anything wrong with the gears or anything when you took it apart.  it could be the anti reverse bearing.  i just had to replace mine and it made a grind kinda pop when it would start messing up and it eventually broke on a hook set.  im guessing the needles on mine were trying to engage while i was reeling causing the grinding on the handle.  just my 02 cents.

Could you tell me where you found the anti reverse bearing and part number?  Or did you buy the entire sideplate?   I am really looking for one of those.

sounds like the problem started with the worm gear for the line guide. If you get some grit in there, or if the pawl gets a little worn, it will jump the track and cut into the worm gear. The line guide will then lock up, that locks up the handle, because the handle tries to turn the worm gear. If you force it, you will strip the teeth on the plactic drive gears for the line guide worm gear. Now it seems that you need a worm gear, a pawl and the worm gear drive gears. There is one plastic gear at the bottom of the crank stack, it turns another plastic gear that is on the end of the line guide worm gear. You probably need to replace them all. I don't think you have a problem with the anti reverse clutch.

good advice ksbasser  i didnt think that far into it .   and as far as the part number on the AR bearing i did order the whole side plate from southwesternparts.com.  took about 2 weeks after the order and it was at my door.  i have to recommend them since i got it so fast.   part number is 1125826.  i believe it was 22 dollars for the side plate.  the bearing itself is 11 or 12 i believe and then u have to get it out. was just easier for me to pay 10 bucks more.  shipping is kinda steep.  believe it was 12 dollars. but i had alot of stuff to order so it wasnt that bad.    there website took  me a minute to figure out so ill help you a little.  if you decide to order from them just go to their site and under reel parts choose abu garcia.  the next page will be a search dont put a year  just under model type revo and you can order from those that are listed.   believe it shows 07 but my side plate was for a newer one i believe but worked just fine. once you get the schematic pulled up click order parts   find the part number you want and type it in where it says part no.  and hit enter and it will show the part and a description then just hit add part  once done hit finish and you can pay it.   sorry so long but took me a while to figure it all out so i thought i could save you some time and frustration!

jez im long winded tonight one more thing you might try to rule out.  if your unsure its the pawl you can shim it and see if it corrects your problem.  ive done it a couple times just to be able to fish while parts are on order. really simple just take some aluminum foil and use as a space so the pawl will stick up a little farther.  this is just a temp fix to try and get you threw the day or to see if thats the only problem you are having.

The shim missing is probably a big part of the problem in the first place (other than dirt/grim). The schematic calls for one and the Schematic Ref #18 - Part number is #1125736...

Good Luck & Tight Lines!
