Which rod??

Featured Replies

I'll cast my vote for falcon rods. As others have said if you go with Bucoos or Lowriders I think you will be very pleased. Also shimano compre rods are a pretty good deal.

What's your opinions on Temple Fork Gary Loomis Signature Casting Rods?

Of those listed, the W&M Skeet Reese rods.  The 7' Spinnerbait/Worm is an excellent spinnerbait/small crankbait rod.

bought a mojo rod...hated it. upgraded to a legend tournament rod...love it. in the 150 or less range i own Kistler, Powell, and Shimano Compre, and they are all good rods for the money, but of the three i like the Powell the best. i've got a buddy who has a couple of falcon lowriders that he likes alot too.

I have the mojo bass froggin rod and I don't likke it much. It's ridiculously heavy and strenuous to use. My buddy has the spinnerbait rod and he likes it alright. I also have the teressa spinnerbait/worm rod and am not a fan of it either. I would definitely second going with a higher end rod in your price range. I have used powells and you can't go wrong there. Also heard great things about Dobyn's and may be purchasing one soon. But I would definitely go with a higher end rod. Quality is better than quantity in my opinion.

Abu's Vendetta is a great rod and I like it better than the Mojo or Skeet's rod for the money.  I even like the ASR better than the Mojo or Skeet.

I would recommend a Shimano Crucials. I own 2 and love them.

Yup this is what I was thingking.  They are a little more than the mojo but are in my opinion way better (closer to the avid)  you can't beat the warranty either.  The other shimanos are great too...Clarus, Compre and cumara, alll great rods at their particular price point and all with the same great warranty.

I would go for the kistler magnesium also the abu Garcia vendetta series are good and very affordable. But I haven't tried the bucoos yet so I can't comment.

Falcon Cara T7s or St Croix Avids would be much better choices.

Later, ;)

I started buying Mojo's thinking the same thing as you - I wanted to try and get a whole series of rods, and the price on the Mojo's is right for that.

However, after I bought 3 I realized that I am too particular about certain techniques to really be happy with one set of rods.

In other words, I would rather have the exact rod I want for a particular technique instead of having rods that all have the same name.

So I still have the Mojo's, but I also got several Kistler's, a Powell and an Okuma C3.

And I am happy with them all...so far.    ;)

op on Mojo Bass(owned for 5 hrs)..D not like the reel seat at all, didnt seem to want to stay tight.

Love the action/sensitivity of the blank...jury is out on that reel seat.

falcon cara T7 or falcon lowriders

id go with st. croix avids. check out the warranty and reviews on these rods.
