Planning a trip to Lake Fork at the end of this month. I was am thinking I need to put some heavier line on for this trip. I have a crankbait set up and kind of an all around rig I use for soft plastics, etc that I usually have 10-12 lb mono on.

I have had trouble with floro on my bc's with back lashing, etc. So I just went to using mono, and had no troubles. I don't want to get down there and spend all day fighting my line.

Should I just put some 17-20 mono on these?

Any suggestions of some easy to manage lines?

I may not have a chance to fish with any of these before I go, but I guess I can throw them around in the yard to see if I would have trouble.

17#P-Line CX  would  be a good choice.I fished wacky rigged finesse worms with this line on Fork this past spring with no problems.

Yes, upsize your line.  I'd prefer fluoro for the feel, but use mono if you're more comfortable

Either way, I'd recommend using a good line conditioner when you spool up to make the line a bit more friendly

I 've never been to Lake Fork but if it looks just a little bit like Choke Canyon I wouldn 't gop with anything less than 15 lbs.

I think I will just get some heavier mono like big game. I may also spool up some 15 or 17 lb Floro on an extra combo just to take along and see if I get along any better. When I had so much trouble, I had not been using a bc very long, so maybe I'll have a little better luck with it this time.

I use a line conditioner now, but do you put some on at different stages while spooling?

If you are going to be flippin into the lily pads or the grass, I suggest that you have at least one heavy action rod with no less than fifty pound braid.

Ive fished fork before and I wouldnt fish no less then 15# mono or FC there.. but what I would do if I was you get you some 50# braid and use a Uni to uni knot and some FC leader... in Fork you need abrasion Resistance and the FC leader will give you that.. if you want a good priced FC that cast well ide go with Berkley 100% in 17#...if you have the funds and can get it and want some awesome FC get some Sunline shooter...IMHO the best FC on the market it handles better then most monos... Sniper is awesome to but local stores probably wont carry it but TW does. the Berkley 100% is a pretty decent FC all around tho... IMHO Braid to FC leader would be your best option.

65 lb fireline braid in 14 lb diameter should be just what you need.
