Lubricate Quantum Accurist PT?

Featured Replies

How do I lubricate my reel? I have http://www.hoppes.com/products/lubricating_oil.html for oil and http://www.philwood.com/products/greaseoilhandcleaner/ for grease. Can i use this stuff & if so, where do i apply it? Im a pro at disassembling and maintaining spinning reels, but i've only disassembled and worked on a daiwa baitcaster i got second hand, this quantum is my first expensive baitcaster.

That Hoppes oil is listed a high viscosity oil which is not what you want for spool bearings. I'm not familiar with the Philwood grease. Superlube grease is what many of us use and it is widely available. I like TG's Yellow Rocket fuel for bearings. Reel Mech has a private label. In general: oil bearings, grease gears. I recommend gear oil for level-winds.

It's a Quantum so it needs Quantum's Hot Sauce, it's specially formulated for Quantum's PT bearings.  Personally, I wouldn't use any oil or grease on my reels that it's made for reels.

I use Quantum's Hot Sauce on my PT's, but be carefull. A little goes a long way and because of it's color(red) it can get a little messy. :)

..Agree 100%
I recommend gear oil for level-winds.
I recommend only quality reel oil for any lubricated parts exposed to the elements (level wind worm gears etc.)..

Tight lines!
