"Instant" anti-reverse

Featured Replies

I have a curado 200b that all of a sudden has about an inch of back play in the handle.

What can be done?

unless youre comfortable stripping the reel and checking the bearing, id send that booger in for service.

if you dont mind stripping the reel down, you can take the crank handle off, remove the side plate, and pop that bearing out.

could be the bearing has failed, or could be a large amount of lube has made its way to the bearing letting the reel spin backwards.

The amount of back play you describe combined with the fact of it appearing suddenly, would indicate to me that the anti reverse clutch bearing has failed. I'll be happy to check it out if you'd like to send it in.

Shimanos do have a very small amount of backplay but an inch is just way too much.

Thanks guys.

I will probably send it in with a few other reels in the near future.
