2009 Revo STX or 2010 Citica E

Featured Replies

Which should I get?  Which is easier to use?  Which is built to last better?  I will be using the reel for baits over 1oz, and they both can be had for around 100$ right now.

Which is easier to use?

the citica. centrifugal brakes are simple and work great.

Which is built to last better?

the STX. built like a tank.

you can't go wrong with the citica but, at $100, you get more for the money with the STX. i'd say get the STX and give it a try...then, if it's not for you, sell it or trade it for a citica.

I say go with the Stx. I think its a better reel for equal price. I have one and love it. Neither one is a bad choice though.

both good reels but an

STX at that price ummmmmmmbeatable

The STX is much more reel, for the same money. A no-brainer in my opinion.

my first 2 baitcasting reels were an STX and a Citica. The STX outshines it in almost every way. in my opinion, centrifugal brakes aren't nearly as important as some make them out to be.

Alright literally everyone votes for the STX? Well that was easy.

I have one more question if anyone would like to give some more advice.

Is the STX better for heavier baits?  I ask because I will be exclusively using this reel with baits over 1oz.

Thanks. ;)

Absolutely I haven't had a problem. I use it for flippin and often throw 1oz weights with texas rigged soft plastics.

STX is the baddest to the bone. especially since you ain't gotta open a silly sideplate to make adjustments to the mag breaks. never know when that winds gonna pick up, or let up. besides i can cast weightless plastics a quarter mile with the stx. ok obviously not really but you do get great distance with light lures

If you take the time to PROPERLY adjust the STX, you'll have no problem. I can cast unweighted plastics around 50' easily. Large baits ? how much line ya got ?

I don't have an STX (yet) but have to say the same thing about my Citica. That puppy launches for a reel at this price point and I'm far from an expert with baitcasters.

I pulled the trigger on the STX, thanks to your advice guys. Hopefully its everything I ever wanted. Did I mention this is my first baitcaster?

I'd take an STX over a Curado, and the Curados are above Citicas. Hope that helps.

STX all the way, its a great reel for heavy or light weight lures/plastics.
