Just bought one, but does anyone on here have experience with them

No, but I'm pretty sure they are not Shimano.

Yea I wish had the money to have gotten a shimano but I got what I could get.

You referring to the black model sold by BPS?

red black and silver yes.

I had the KVD20A a couple years ago and it was a second choice to the reel I really wanted which was the Kinetic 20PTI-B when they first came out. The KVD20 A was more like a re-branded Catalyst A. The A model after a couple of trips out felt labored on the retrieve and like it had sand in the gearing mechanism. It might have just needed a good cleaning but instead I just returned it. It handled well out of the box but the performance dropped off after 5-6 trips out. I ended up taking it back and getting my first choice the Kinetic. I see BPS has the KVD20B model on sale and I would get another but I have the Kinetic-B and the Catalyst-A&B models.

I would have it cleaned good and it should perform well.

I'm wary of any product that has someone's name attatched to it. It's not like KVD or Ike is sitting at the computer with the engineer developing something new. It's more like attatching a name to a mediocre product to boost sales. It's a marketing gimmick, that's all.

There's PLENTY of quality choices by all of the companies in different price ranges available these days. We're in a golden age of quality fishing gear at good prices. There's no reason to settle for second best.

Yea.... It would be dumb for me to go return something I just bought so I'm probably going to have to live with my heat of the moment purchase.

i agree with the signature series comment to some extent.... that its more a ploy to charge a little more for a product.

but id also like to say that just because it has a signature on it doesnt make it junk either.  i think its really up to buying the right product for what you want. it doesnt make a difference if it has some pros name on it unless youre buying it ONLY because it has the name on it.  and then thats kinda shortsighted.

rick clunns crankbaits and reels, kvds crankbaits and rods.... etc.... good stuff. to not get them just cause they are signature products is kinda silly.

I don't think its a bad product at all and was just speaking of my experience with it. If it is the B model of the reel I would say its a good choice but only your time on the water will tell. I took mine back because of my individual experience and all the B models of Quantum reels are a step above the A models.

I have never fished a KVD marked product.  I do have a friend that does, but its the rods. Personally I thought the rod was sub-par and no better then the Skeet Reese stuff that was alot cheaper. Im not sure how KVD allowed his name to be put on sub par equiptment, but it seems that it has happened

I fish all Abu reels and I am sponsored by Abu Garcia/Pure Fishing. The Soron is an outstanding reel, as is this one http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=77 . I contacted them and applied because I was fishing their products already after being frustrated by other brands. Yes including Shimano.  The brand new Revo spinning reel is amazing, but its at a different price range for sure. If I can help you with the Abu or Pflueger reels please let me know.

My plan was to get a President but the guy at BPS somehow talked me out of it for some reason. But the whole thing i was trying to do was to find a reel that would fit a 7' Medium Light Microlite rod that I already had. But besides the point I should of gone with the President.

BPS is pretty good about returns. If ya dont like it take it back.

I agree that if u don't like it after have hit the water and had a real world test then you should take it back. BPS does have a great return policy I agree.

No. It would be dumb to use a reel you don't want. Return it and get that president. You wont be disappointed.

Yea I'm going to return it. I just didn't want to tick the people off at basspro

They really shouldnt get ticked off, and you should not have to feel like they would.

Is there much performance difference between the President and the President XL? I know there is a price difference.

I assume you meant XT. The XT has the better drag system.
