Whats the lightest spinning reel available? I want to pair it with a fishing rod I have that weighs 3.8 ounces..... I would be using it with light line and finesse fishing

If I had to venture a guess, probably the Shimano Stradic CI4. There may well be some lighter reels out there though. The new Revo spinning reels were made with their new technology to lower the weight.

What about a Shimano Sahara, it weighs 6.9 ounces

2010 Models of the Pflueger Supreme and Supreme XT (size 25) are at or under 6.5oz.  2011 I believe are lighter.

I'm still caught off guard at how light my Stradic CI4 is when I pick it up. The new Pflueger is sporting some pretty low numbers to.

Actually the Revo and Ci4 are lighter then the Steez. According to Cabelas anyway. 7.0 7.0 and 7.1

If you want to bring in smaller reels into the discussion, then the 2508 beats them all, though if you can probably only tell the difference in 0.1 oz. if you really squint, LOL.  Apples to apples.....

At any rate, a Flooger/Revo <> Steez.

I shopped for a spinning reel for the same purpose. Although most wouldn't consider it a "bass-sized" reel, I ended up getting the Pflueger Supreme 8025MG -- 6.5oz. I run 20lb braid on it and have caught bass up to 19 inches - big enough to test the drag....

I cant, or atleast I dont really care that much about the weight that much. Most quality reels are light enough. Ive used some Diawa Excelor's 4000 series in the past. I care more about line capacity and castability. However drag system has become important because of lost fish in the past. Hence the Abu and Pflueger reels with the carbon matrix drags.

All my reels have Smooth Drags Carbontex. The carbon fiber drags in the Abus is not coated in the same manner as the real Carbontex, and they lose some of their max drag with time. Not really a big deal, though I've replaced many Abu drags.

And the Smooth Drag Carbontex gain drag when wore in..

A couple of tenths of an ounce is not too important to me.  At present I'm using supremes 25-30-and 35 for freshwater, I was using the 35 for snook but moved it back to freshwater in favor of a soron 20, imo a superior reel for that kind of fishing.

Shimano Stella 1000FE weighs in at 6.0 oz. I have an older FB, it is very light.
