Just purchased the Avid 7'MH/F which will be used for Pitching soft plastics and jigs and some football jig use. weights from 1/4oz-3/4oz. my question is should i have gotten the 7'MH/xf for those baits

Works fine for that.  I use mine for jigs and t-rigs.

One of my favorite rods!  I use mine almost exclusively for t-rigs!

You may prefer 1 over the other if you fished them both extensively but the difference will be subtle. I personally use the M/F for t-rigs and jigs (3/8 or smaller). It's a great rod that you should definitely not have buyer's remorse with.

I have that rod as well, IMHO it handles baits on the heavy side of it's rating better than the lighter.  I usually dont' go much below 3/8 oz with it, and most often fish baits  in the 1/2-3/4 range. Great C-rig, and big spinnerbait rod too. I usually fish 17lb fluoro on it, but am switching to braid this year.......just bought a 7' MH/F Legend Tournament, that will have fluoro on it now. With braid on it, it will also make a great back up frog rod if my current frog rod has issues.

I have that rod as well. Its a great rod for that... Little to stiff to be an all around rod but botton contact within specd limits. Its awesome. Its actually more like a H than a MH so its pretty rugged. I bagged a 41" Northern on it with no issues.

I did have issues with tip guide but I fixed it myself.

...and while I like the rod, I almost certainly trading it for the Legend Extreme.

I'd consider the AVC70MHF a good multipurpose rod with backbone. It'll handles jigs and worms very well. You can toss toads and hollow body frogs with it, too. I used mine for a few years as a 1/2-3/4 oz spinnerbait rod, and occasionally for ripping large lipless cranks around grass. Now I gave it to my Dad and he loves it for heavy spinners and frogging.
