Looking for a low speed (4:7:1 or lower) reel

If you want to do some deep cranking a 3.8:1 will pull them down and not wear you out.  I just happen to have one with 2 sets of gears.

The BPS Pro Qualifier has a 4.7 : 1. I have the 5.2:1 I use for crankbaits and I like it. And they are on sale now.

Yeppers this is a magnificent reel. Use it for my deep cranking all day and would recommend it anytime anywhere.

What are some of the better suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Did you have a price range in mind? While there's not a whole lot of 4.7 or lower ratio reels made anymore...without a price you could get a wide-range of answers.

For a quality, value-priced reel, I x3 the PQ. I use the 4.7:1 on my deep-cranking rod, and use the 5.2:1 on my heavy spinnerbait rod.

Also - take a look at the IPT ratings for each candidate reel. Not all 4.7s or lower will pick up the same line. If the IPT suits your purpose, you might expand your range to take in the 5.0:1 reels which would then bring the the Revo Winch, Curado 200E5, and others into consideration.

There not on sale. They are still at 99.99 unless ur talking in store sale.

They're on sale in-store for $79.97 until March 13 as part of the Spring Fishing Classic sale. You can get price-matching on a phone order. You can't get the store price on an internet order however.

Two reels come to mind: A Pro Qualifier and Diawa Exceler.

From time to time the older green Shimano Curado B38's come up for sale. They have a 3.8:1 ratio, hence the B38 name.

I'd fall asleep using a 3.8:1 reel. Tough to beat the PQ 4.7:1 for that application.

What are some of the better suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I don't always agree with the reviews on Tackletour BUT I will give them some credit for providing decent information on lots of tackle. Here is their review of slow crankin' baitcasters. Interesting read if you are in the market for one.
