Wrong rod?

Featured Replies

I was just looking through my rods when i noticed my shimano crucial rod which i bought 2 years ago before I really understood actions - presentation differences. the rod is a crsx72m which is a shimano crucial 7' 2" medium with an extra fast tip- i went into bass pro looking for a drop shot rod and this was what the sales person sold me. What now... what would you use this rod for? more of a jigging rod for walleye?

Perfect for plastics IMO. I have the same crucial but mine is 2" shorter  :)

well heres the confusing part. if u look at the shimano website they show CRSDX72M  7'2"  Medium  Extra Fast  6-12  5-30  1/8-3/8  1  2.5"  9.5"  Tip+8  A  as drop shot rod yet the crsx72m is just a spinning crucial, is there a difference? i guess this is what was throwing me off, just an added letter on the model number or added performance for the drop shot

The only difference is split-grip vs. Full grip

ah,this one i have has split grip

There won't be a performance difference. Just aesthetics/comfort.

yea, ive been using the rod for drop shotting. dragging tubes and throwing some plastics even senkos and its worked fine, i was just confused when i saw the shimano website..

IMO that's the perfect drop shot rod...I am about to purchase a 7'2" M Cumara for this DS  8-)

That rod should serve just fine as a drop-shot/light plastics rod. Rods labeled for specific techniques are done as marketing. The blank doesn't know if it's wrapped as a spinning, casting, drop-shot, fill in the blank.... rod.

I've got the same rod.  Use it for drop shotting primarily.  Shaky heads once in a while and other light line techniques.  Works fantastic.  Couldn't be happier with that rod.
