I am looking at buying a spinning combo soley for shaky head and finese worms and such.  What does everyone here use to throw these baits as far as rod type and line?

Anywhere from UL to H in rod power, anywhere from 6 to 17 lb test, reels: spinning or baitcasting.

Prutty specific ain 't it ?  

I've caught 20 fish in 08 above 3lbs so far, all on shaky head. It's about the only thing I've been fishing as of lately.

Dobyns 702 ML  - Has PLENTY of power to bring in big fish. I've pulled in a fired up 8lb trout, 10lb cat, and 7lb bass all in the past month and half. Don't let the Medium Light fool you.

I've been experimenting with different lines. 6lb Pline Fluorocarbon, breaks a bit too easily, 6lb Mono breaks way too easily. 10lb INvisi braid is AWESOME but for ultra clear water, I think it's probably still too visible.

Im' going to try 8lb flourocarbon next.

i use shakey head a good bit   and it is one techinque that i really believe that the type of rod and line makes a huge difference in your catch rate

any 7-7 1/2 foot spinning rod would work that is medium or medium fast action     then line depends on water clarity  i think you get better action with mono so for most cases try 6-10 pound mono   for very very clear water 4 pound mono  or 6-12 pound flouro     flouro will ruin the action alittle so be careful on selecting a line    good luck

If I am going to use a spinning outfit for shakey heads, I use a St. Croix Avid AS69MLXF. I use an older Shimano Stradic 2000. I use Power Pro 6/20 for line, and attach a leader of fluorocarbon with a uni-uni knot.

I also use this same set-up for unweighted Gambler floating worms, grubs, etc.

I use a 7foot medium action spinning rod with 6 pound mono

Shimano Symetre 2500 spooled with 8lb Sufix Elite on a 6'6" Med/Fast Shimano Crucial.

The sensitivity is AMAZING!

I use a 6'6" med or med hvy fast rod with a 2500 reel and 6 lb yozuri hybrid ultra soft

I use a generic quantum 6'6" light weight with 8# berkley floro.

I use a Loomis DSR820 dropshot rod (6'8" ML) and a Stella 1000FB YoZuri US #6 line.

x2 but Daiwa fuego 2000 reel

Thanks guys this will help my rod selection when I buy one coming up. Do you usually go for a little oversize reel or stick with a smaller one?

6'7" Carrot Stix and any light reel that can handle 8 pound flouro.
