NEW Lucky Craft RS Pointers

Featured Replies

I just read an ad in FLW magizine about a new pointer that uses real fish skin on the lure. The point is to give fish the illusion, through smell and taste that they are eating the real thing. Of coourse I can't find them anywhere including the Lucky Craft on-line catalog. It's frustrating when companies advertise new products and can't even update their own catalog or provide the product to the public.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the concept and if anyone knows how to get them? It seems to me that they wont last long due to the delicate fish skin coating even though they claim that nicking them is important to release the odor and taste.

I did a thread a while back on it and showed 2 side by side and such, but I'm starting to like it even more. Lately I've been using the real skin a lot and been doing great. I think the main thing is the spotted squid pattern over the american shad looks so different, it may catch more bass. They love to slam it on a pretty long pause. But it also may just be the red hooks, or the angler, one can't be sure.

Real skin? I bet they smell horrible

Let's see.

For all these years we have used balsa and plastic and caught fish.

Now, for some reason, it is better to have fish skin on a bait to help us catch fish.

I am not buying into it until it proves itself.

And at the cost of the lure (hey, it is a Lucky Craft) I will let you guys buy them and try them and let us know if they improve your catch ratios.

With the money I will save I can take my wife out to Ruth' Chris Steak House for dinner.

(???)  I did a simple Google search and found a bunch of e-retailers carrying LC Real Skins.

"Moving" lures are all about action and profile, not texture, taste or smell. I think Real Skin is nothing more than a marketing ploy. BTW, this comment is coming from a HUGE fan of Lucky Craft lures!

8-)

try the Palm or Morton there better ;)

I've fished the RS chartreuse shad for several months, and can't say that it out performs any other minnow baits. Though the concept of real skin sounds good, I've not experienced any advantage. I'm a big fan of LC, so I'm not going to say that real skin is a marketing ploy, I just don't think it was worth the few extra bucks. You may have a different experience than I did. Nothing ventured...nothing gained.

Good luck.
