Rumor of SAL #442   Huge one!!!!!

Featured Replies

Theres a rumor floating around today.     The first SAL of the year has been caught.

If this rumor holds true, history is in the making.      History in the fact of, there has never been another lake in Texas to produce a fish that weighs more than 16.99 pounds except from Lake Fork.

Today, reports are coming from Fork about Lake Amistad.

A 17.80 Which would be new lake record, a record that was set as of Dec 2005 at 15.68.

If this rumor holds up to be true.    It would be the 8th ShareALunker donated from Amistad since she opened up in 1968.

This would be one of the most encouraging signs we've seen in years.    Thank you Mother Nature for giving her some needed rains that filled her banks to 90% capacity.

Ya'll Hookem, I hope to tell ya'll soon that this one is for real.

Matt

Thanks Matt,

I want to get down to Texas in Dec or Jan and it's always encouraging to see/hear the biguns reports.

It's October in the rest of the country (world?). When did the New Year start in Texas?   :)

As it does every year.    The new Sal program starts Oct. 1, 2007 and ends April 30, 2008.   Just long enough to get those ladies to spawn in captivity to hopefully produce some future sharelunkers.

RW, I'm leaving Saturday morning for Fork.  If you want to pre-pay your bet for the Huskers and Fighting Manginos football game, you're welcome to tag along!   ;D

Well no picture has surfaced yet, and no one at Anglers Lodge has chimed in.    No word on the TP&W web site as of yet.

I do believe that there are some big ones in Amistad, she doesn't come close to the pressure that Fork gets.

We'll see,

ring fry,

When and where are you gonna be?    I'll be launching from the Minnow Bucket Saturday morning.       Give me some details,   would at least like to meet.

  Matt

Matt, probably be going through there about noon, depending on how much time I spend at Brannons, on the way to Tyler.  My buddy doesn't get off work down there till 3:00.  Will fish Tyler on Sat., probably Jacksonville on Sun. then Fork on Mon/Tues.  I'll PM my cell, maybe meet for lunch if you come in at lunch!

I spoke with Barbara at Falcon Lake Tackle yesterday afternoon and they knew nothing about that 17.8 from the big A. You would think they would have heard about it since Falcon is right there. Believe it when I see the pics.

OKAY.... First things first..... RW-  IF WE WANT OUR YEARS TO START IN FLIPPING JULY... We will start them in July. THIS IS TEXAS and we don't always do things like you Tennesee yankees.

The only reason you guys are "Texans" is because Tennessee sent down the Volunteers!    8-)

Well we'd have figured something out if you hadn't :) :-[

Well,   Ring Fry, I left all of Forks bass in the lake for ya this week.

Saturday, I got skunked.    North wind the past few days prior and on Saturday, with lake temps in most areas 65 degrees.

Talked to abunch of couples fishing a tourney.     Tough day for all.    No spinner bait, crankbait fish or trap fish.    Those are the no brainer fish, that I couldn't catch.      It happens.

Nothing has shown up on the Rumor.

There's a point during the fall I'd just as soon stay home; weather patterns are changing bringing high winds, the thermocline has dissolved; this allows good oxygen levels all the way to the bottom.

Sorry for the rumor, one like that gets my blood stirring.

I'll try to leave the hot air out of the future reports.

Sorry we didn't hook up again ring fry!

RW,

For funnies, I wanted to say, can we get a do over on the Alamo, but since we are now minorities and I'm treading close to a fine line,

I'll simply say, thanks for the support from the great state of Tennessee.

Most of Texas is named from that era in some way or another.

Matt, we fished Fork Monday.  Had one almost 6# and three others in the 3# range.  Buddy caught one.  Biggest one on jig n pig in Williams, gave up about 1:00 and went to Quitman and caught another 5 or 6 a piece.  It was definately tough with 4 days of blue bird skies and north east winds.

Sorry we keep missing each other.    come on down on some weekend and get out on the boat with me!!!!!!

I'm hoping Ltrain and myself get to meet this weekend and do some fishing together.

LTrain may be up for fishing a couple of Open tourneys in Dec together on Cedar Creek with Media Bass.    That would be cool.

We did leave the lake Saturday and stopped off at Lake Tawakonia to catch a couple of stripers or hybrids for supper.   I pass right by her and hit a public ramp.    On and Off the water in 40 minutes with supper in the livewell.     Chris and I will do that on most trips when coming back from Fork.      Heck, I should have put on a Berkley Gulp and caught my dinner on a good Lake Fork Cat.   That one is almost guarantee also.      That Gulp is the best Texas rigged catfish bait I've come across.      Never had much luck using it for bass, but the kitty fish like it alot.

Hookem

Matt

The rumor might be true, i can wait to see a 20 lber come out of texas . :)
