spro bronzeye or bigfoot frog?

Featured Replies

the wife gave me permission to spend some money ;D.

i am putting an order together, my question is which one is better?

i have not used either one, do they both float? was wondering which one everybody prefers, i would like one that floats and does not take on water, tia

I think Cabelas has a sale right now on the Bronzeyes, which I've used and thought they were alright.  Haven't used the Bigfoots.

the bigfoots really do float, it is just like a buzz bait, just looks like a frog.

by the way i was able to cast them pretty far for such a lightweight. I've heard mixed opinnions on them though. I've only used mine once.

go with spro man, ive had tons of luck with them and there really is noo possible way to get them snagged just go with all black you wont be disappointed

I have never used the bigfoot, I used to date one but that is story for another post. I have had good success with the Spro. It does float and casts well. The hook set up is far better than many of the other brands. The back is flat and not contoured like other brands so when they crush it you will have a very high hook up rate. I really like the black one in stained water. It is awesome in the spring. They really eat it.

I have both frog lures.

The Spro is heavier so you can cast farther & use a baitcast setup.  I open up the hooks just a little so the frog has a little more bite back to the bass.  The body is quite soft.

The bigfoot frog is lighter & quite hard to throw on a baitcast setup.  Works better w/ a spinning med/hvy to med setup.  The body is much softer that it is easy for the fish to compress the lure & get some hooks in.  I've added a worm rattle to mine so it has noise when worked through weeds.

Both are good but are different in their own repepcts on how to use.

ive never seen anyone use the bigfoot but my uncle gave the spro a try last year and hated it,it filled with water often and he couldnt hook a fish to save his life, the body seemed to be soo tough and stiff that it wouldnt get you a good hookset on the fish, i was gonna try them out but after watching him i decided to save myself the frustration

Exactly the same experience I had with them, you have to buy one and get lucky enough that its a good quality frog. I did get one that was good quality, but out of 3 that I bought only 1 was quality(and this paint chipped too). By quality I mean it wasn't too hard, not too soft, and didn't fill with water after 1min 30secs of being on the top. The 2 out of 3 had problems, taking on water, paint chipping after a bringing in a fish, too hard for a good hookset etc. I won't buy one of these again unless I can literally feel it before I buy it.

As for the big foot I haven't tryed it, but if you want a great frog take my advice and buy the original scumfrog, http://www.scumfrog.com/scumfrog.html it doesn't take on water, it floats great, and its very soft, letting you get a great hookset. Plus after catching a fish you can easily re-adjust the hooks and your ready to go, unlike the spro where after a fish and you re-adjust the hooks you have to worry about the paint chipping off and crap, theres a reason its on sale, trust me on that.

I had read the same thing, more than once, that RR27 and BFM said about the spro and they are a little pricey. Didn't want to be disappointed. I have used Bobby's Casting Frog for a long time and thought it was OK while you were pulling it across of moss and stuff but it lacked something when you came to small open pockets of water. I bought a 3/8 oz. Bigfoot day before yesterday and have high hopes for it (more action in those small pockets). You and I both will have to wait for a little later in the season to find out how my high hopes go :)...

spro frog ,,,, best frog on the market bar none .....   ;D

I'd go with the Spro. I love mine. Last year I caught 2 bass over 7 pounds in Kentucky Lake with one. Its a great bait in early summer.  My buddy bought a bigfoot and it never saw the water again after its first time out. It was too light for his liking.
