Tungsten colors does it matter??

Featured Replies

I've recently switched to tungsten weights when drop shotting and am happy with the results. I'm buying off of ebay, magic bullet weights, cool guy, and way cheaper, but no colors... I would like to know does it matter? i've never used colored weights in 15 years of bass fishing, but I'm not an expert. I'm asking for the more experienced to explain, does color really matter? How? Thanxs!

Also what are you guys using for "glass" in a "glass and bass" rig when using tungsten?

If you want to take the shine off the weight then spray paint them black.

I don't think the color of your sinker matters that much although I have had fish hit the sinker.

As for "glass" I go to a local bead shop and purchase their clear glass faceted cut beads for around $7.50 for a 10 inch string.

Expensive but they are different than the "glass" beads we get at the local tackle shop.

Thanks Sam for the advice. Is the faceted more expensive glass able to hold up against tungsten? I still haven't tried a tungsten/glass rig but everyone tells me the tungsten shatters the glass.

I don't think it matters at all to the fish.  B/C i'm a weirdo I only fish green though.  Its a confidence thing for me which helps me catch more fish.

Personally I think it keeps a more natural look when fishing a worm/creature type bait, because black can pretty much go with anything and stay natural looking. As for the silver colored bullet weights imo when used with greenpumpkin worms/creatures or brown worms/creatures its not as natural as a black or green would be.

Although if I was fishing a baitfish imitation like a super fluke or a white senko then I don't think the silver bullet weight would make a difference because silver pretty much goes with the baitfish look. Just my opinion of course.

Ditto! :)

Pricey, but I like the tru tungsten force beads for the bead rig. They are loud and wont break from the tungsten. They too come in colors.

My personal opinion is just simply use black weights.I dont like flashy silver.MY .02 that is.

I've used silver, red, and black.  I have yet to see any difference in the amount of fish caught using any color.  They all seem to work equally.

If you're using (and paying more $$) colored weights for drop-shot fishing, you're wasthing a lot of money.

IMHO, it doesn't matter but if I do choose a color it is always black.  I have tried others but I think it just to make it look appealling to the fisherman.
