favorite drop shot bait

Featured Replies

I'm gonna start drop shotin' this year and i was wonderin what some of your best baits are and the length would help to

                                                          thanks

ive used em all but have caught some of my biggest on just a plain old finesse worm, zooms or berkleys hand poured. used to use just shad colors but have caught them on greens real good last year.

Tackle warehouse has a great selection of baits under "Drop Shot".

My favorite was a bait that was marketed by Culprit a few years ago that is a 3 " shad shape bait called a Zeal worm.

Closest things I can find are the Roboworm Alive Shad one and the Skinny Bear one. The GYBC shad shaped worm is somewhat similar.

In clear water I like a green with no flake, or is it's a heavy shad feed, a natural shad color.

If you're in Ohio and fishing the Great lakes, the goby imitations seem to be the deal.

Zoom Meat Head, and the Robo worms.

Lucky strike finesse work most of last year.  Started using Berkley Power minnows end of last year with success.

When i drop shot i do it considerably different than most people. I tend to use bigger baits so i usually catch less but bigger bass than most. I fish very slowly and i keep the light line, usually 8 pound give or take 2 pounds. So my favorite drop shot bait is a 4-8 or even 10 inch ringworm, usually with a curltail.

Why? The ring of the worm displace water giving it some noise and when i let the worm float down on slack line, those ribs catch water and greatly slow the fall.

I like about a 3" natural colored minnow bait. Last year I had a the best luck on a Hawgshad 2.8" minnow but I used them all and could not find more. Now I have a soft plastic mold and just pour my own out of supersoft plastic. If the fish are really feeding a 2.5" fluke works real well.

i would love to learn how to dropshot, was looking at the roboworm 4.5 greenie peenie and hoping that would work, they look really good

I use zoom finesse worms and sometimes 4 inch lizards.  Just ordered some zoom meatheads to try out this year.

My own hand poured drop shot worms and gobies and Panic Minnows.
