Kansas City area folks...

Featured Replies

When do you guys really start fishing hard?  What month or weather conditions do you start?

I am used to fishing farm ponds but bought a boat last year and really want to start hitting it hard..

What techniques do you use for any time of year/month?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I see you're in Missouri. Where exactly are you at? I'm near KC (I go to school in Warrensburg) and am always looking for places to fish.

I live east of KC and fish Smithville, Watkins Mill, Cameron and anywhere I can.  How about you?

I am in OP and if the weather permits it the boat goes out! Depending on water temps there are several ways to go about your business. I always try to match the hatch.

One great thing about this area is you have 2 powerplant lakes that almost always have open water within an hour of here. If you feel like braving the weather you don't ever have to stop! I had a near 100 fish day on Wolf Creek powerplant lake last tuesday. If you find fish at Wolf Creek or La Cygne they may not be bass but a fish on the end of line is a a whole lot better than sitting at home wishing!  :D

Most of the lakes around here are fairly dirty water and not very deep. Lots of fish to be caught on cranks, spinnerbaits, jigs, and soft plastics with typical stained water colors and techniques.

I'll probably start fishing in March, shortly after ice gets off the water.

I see you are north of Richmond...I live on just outside of Richmond off 210 Hwy.

Where do you mainly fish at in the area?
