Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Any suggestions on fishing that lake?  Thanks for the help

Start at the warm water outlet, fish both sides all the way out, and then pick any spot on the rip rap on the mainlake and then pick a direction and fish it. Warm water throughout the entire lake, anyone's guess on what they'll eat. Let them tell you what they want. Never a bad idea to go flip the trees either.

Was the foam around the rod learned the hard way or just a great idea?

The fish in that lake do like a big swimbait, not a paddletail.

The only thing about Coffey is if the wind hits 20mph once they'll call you off.

Only thing I'd add is there are zebra muscles.

I warned everyone the fish are getting bigger at DOCO and that it was going to take 8-10 pounds to win :D

Make it a weekly thing again. When it became a pay to play at the fish off and the points went away, it's no longer an issue for guys who can't make it every week.

I feel like with even with the smallest of changes made now, after 4378 changes already, my credibility is slowwwwwly dwindling...lol

I think the bi-weekly big bass thing is a good fill in for those that want to fish every week. If everyone is good with paying to enter the fish-off, then next year we'll know to do it every week and not worry if someone can't make it.

Wow, they were not kidding about the active KC area report thread :o

Thank you for the welcome!

Well I do not have much to report about...sadly.  With all the rain Smithville went from on fire to pretty rough.   The crappie were great up to the rain then they had no idea what is going on.   Starting to pick up now a little, they are where they were on the bank just 4 foot deeper due to the rain.

I have been catching bass in the weeds that was flooded in the main lake coves using wacky rigged senko's and seemed my best luck was on a 4" power worm texas rigged.  But that was last Saturday, I bet it has changed with the high pressure and the weather warming up.

I already like this site, seems like I have been missing out only just now joining.

My buddy said he saw the Burton's tournament had 3 or 4 over 7 weighed in last week? I know the bass are coming back big time out there.

Yes, I think the biggest was 8.5....some tanks for sure.   I think it took almost a 4lb average to win so those guys are really dialed in.  I am really just got a boat about 5 weeks ago and am still trying to not fall out of the dang thing when I hit the trolling motor lol.   But I am picking it up and having a blast learning the ropes of bigger water fishing.   It is not like fishing the farm ponds/lakes I am used too.

Welcome to the board.  A couple of us are heading to Smithville tomorrow.  We'll be mainly in the Camp Branch area, but not opposed to running around.  If you've got any other tips, let me know!

@gardnerjigman and I with our 4+ lb'rs from DoCo last night.

Wow, those are some great fish.  Camp Branch is where I put in also.   Everything but the mainlake was chocolate milk so if you go in the under the bridges and go off the main lake the water is going to be dark, so reaction bite baits have been the best.  rattle traps, spinnerbaits, etc.  This is unless it has cleared dramatically since Saturday.

So gnarly!

Heading to Truman lake and Lake of the Ozarks next Wednesday through Sunday. Putting in at Bledsoe Ferry ( Ozarks) & Osage Bluff marina. Anybody fished these sections of the lakes?? I noticed from looking at water levels Ozarks is 2' low and Truman is 4' high. I'm assuming with the water in the low 60s the fish will be spawning.

Probably start in the backs and work out.... what you guys think?

They were nearly done spawning during the BBB 2 weeks ago with water temps in the mid to high 60's. I wouldn't put any stock in spawning fish.

One of the best parts from last night.

Keith and I had a buzzbait mishap as well...and it cost him one of his favorite buzzbaits.

And I had a rod (rod tip insert) mishap...good thing I've got an H2O Express rod, looks like I'll be making a trip to Academy for a new 7ft MH rod this weekend.
