Is it just me or has fishing been tough this last couple weeks?

Could I get some lake recommendations if I just want to catch a lot?

I caught 48 last weekend and returned 48 to the water. I've actually only kept 4 bass this season though I've caught hundreds.

I'd say that's ample selective harvest.

I'm only allowed to keep 15"+. That one was on the bigger side of what I'd usually keep, but it wasn't even 4#.

I get it though.

Never gave a report from Elk River memorial day weekend....  It wasn't good.  We managed probably 15 or so smallies, with only 1 over 15 inches. Couldn't get on anything other than the Ned. We floated the upper end which is usually good for healthy LMB but they had just spawned and were shallow and exhausted.  Couldn't get them to eat anything.  The water was cold too.  61 degrees when we put on in the AM.

 

Hope to get down there again this summer.

It was higher than it has ever been when I have been on it. ( I had floated in June, July and Sept previously)  But not ridiculous by any means.  Was actually nice, didn't have to worry about the TM as much.  They have gotten a lot more rain since I was on it, so it might be a little higher now.

Lol. Really it's just to show how well the lake is doing despite the weed kill and chocolate milk water. Temps were around 64-67, and the fish aren't hard to find. DJ's 4.1 didn't have any spawn signs, but my 3.2 still had marks all over her tail as if she'd been on a bed. I caught another just under 3 last Friday that had the same marks. The one with the Beaver in her mouth had a crayfish down her gullet. There are good fish to be had and I'm sure everyone will find them!
