Minuteman
Although this doesn't affect me directly, I did see it on the PA website. "The Commission also opted to seek public input on a proposed prohibition on bass fishing tournaments on the West Branch, North Branch and main stem Susquehanna River that permit the harvest of fish. The proposal was generated in response to angler concerns about organized events that focused on taking fish, especially at a time when agency biologists and bass fishermen have concerns about relatively weak reproduction of young smallmouth bass in parts of the river system in recent years." Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted October 5, 2007 Super User Share Posted October 5, 2007 Thats weird. I have never heard of a tournament that actually promotes the harvest of fish, especially bass. Good find, nonetheless. Wayne
basscatchr27
hey guys, Prety new at this, only 2nd post. I looked into this alittle bit and I believe the beef is with tournys catching fish all over the river and then releasing them all at the weigh in instead of returning them to various locations and also that we kill alot of fish( which is far from the truth). I think it is pretty wacky considering the people cmplaining seem to be those people who choose to harvset bass instead of catch and release. WACKY!!! :-? Super User Munkin Posted November 4, 2007 Super User Share Posted November 4, 2007 I think this may have to do with the all kill tournaments? There are tournaments where all the fish are eaten at a fish fry afterwards. Allen
